Generally, as long as the oil pressure light does not come on (assuming it is tested and working correctly) you should be fine. The oil pressure lights on most models come on at 14psi. Low oil pressure at idle is generally not too big of concern. Low oil pressure at higher RPM, however, is generally where you start getting worried. If you do have low oil pressure, it is not usually caused by a bad pump. It could be the wrong oil filter or clogged oil filter, a weak oil pressure regulator valve (the piece that the oil filter screws onto), or possibly bad rod or main bearings.
